From the Koriyamahigashi IC to the Funehiki-Miharu IC, this course brings you around the famous cherry blossom spots in Miharu and Tamura City. While passing through two vividly-colored Fukujuji cherry blossom trees in Miharu and the Miharu Takizakura, one of the three most famous cherry trees in Japan, visit the numerous beautiful cherry blossom trees that bloom in all their glory. For lunch, have a healthy lunch prepared by the local tofu shop.

Sakura of Fukujuji Temple(Estimated duration/15 minutes by car)
There are two benishidare-zakura (crimson weeping cherry blossom trees) blooming on the grounds of Fukujuji Temple in Miharu. The trees, one being about 250 years old and the other being around 450 years old, overlap with one another and look like a single enormous tree. In the background sprawls a deep green bamboo forest, and its contrast to the vivid red flowers is magnificent.

Miharu Takizakura(Estimated duration/10 minutes by car)
It has been designated as a natural treasure of the nation, and is one of the three major cherry blossom trees in Japan. Its age is said to be more than 1,000 years old and it blooms colorfully from mid to late April each year. The impactful branches that reach out to all directions from north to south and east to west are a must-see.

A tofu café run by a local tofu shop, the lunch using freshly made tofu and homemade soybean desserts there are recommended. After you have enjoyed a healthy tofu lunch, how about Miharu's famous "Miharu Triangle Fried Bean Curd" as a souvenir?

Nakamori no Benishidare Zakura(Estimated duration/14 minutes by car)
It is standing in the garden of a residential house, atop a slightly elevated mountain. The cherry blossoms have a distinctive shape, similar to an umbrella that has been opened up, and have a gorgeous vivid red coloring. The view from the path on the way going up the mountain on the opposite side is also recommended.

Daishoji no Benishidare(Duration/1 minute by car)
Daishoji Temple is located along the prefectural road close to “Kanameta Station" of the JR Ban'etsu East Line. This single cherry blossom tree blooms on the slope to the main building of the temple. The supple branches are covered with slightly reddish blossoms which fill the sky and have an excellent appearance.
