Eat local gourmet cuisine while riding the Ban'etsu East Line! Start from Miharu Station, and once you've viewed the impactful Miharu Takizakura cherry blossoms, stop by Bantou Plaza to savor the local gourmet food during the wait time for the train. After transferring to Funehiki Station and getting soothed by the shidare-zakura (weeping cherry tree blossoms) at Manpukuji Temple, satisfy your stomach with a healthy vegetable-packed menu and local sweets made from wild grapes.

START!! From Miharu Station

Miharu Takizakura (Estimated duration/about 20 minutes by bus)

It has been designated as a natural treasure of the nation, and is one of the three major cherry blossom trees in Japan. Its age is said to be more than 1,000 years old and it blooms colorfully from mid to late April each year. The impactful branches that reach out to all directions from north to south and east to west are a must-see.

In addition to local gourmet dishes including "Miharu Triangle Fried Bean Curd Noodles" and "Miharu Gurumenchi (minced meat cutlet)" which are stuffed with locally-produced bell peppers, "Miharu Koma," a local sake, and various souvenirs are also sold.

Ootakine river Sakura (Estimated duration/6 minutes by foot)

Cherry blossom trees bloom alongside both banks of the Otakine River. The 160 or so cherry blossom trees that continue along both banks create a magnificent tunnel of blossoms. Every year, the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Spring Song Festival are held to match the timing when these cherry blossom trees are starting to bloom.

Restaurant Dolphin (Estimated duration/5 minutes by foot)

In addition to "Tamura Yasai (Vegetable) Curry," which is a spicy, dry curry with lots of color that uses over eight local ingredients and five local vegetables, the menu offers a wide variety of lunch, set, and course dishes. It is also appealing that the restaurant operates until nighttime.

Confectionery Shop Akutsu (Estimated duration/5 minutes by foot)

A Japanese and Western confectionary store in business since the 12th year of the Taisho Era (1923). Make sure to take back as souvenirs their delicious local sweets, including "Karintou Manju," made by kneading local sesame seeds into the skin and deep-frying it, and "Tamura's Local Confectionary Hokujun," which uses wild grapes from Takine, Tamura City.
