Sakura model course
Travel by train! Ohanami (flower-viewing) course
(Estimated duration/about 6 hours)
This is a course where you take the Ban'etsu East Line to Ono-machi. After viewing the Benten cherry blossom tree that stands beautifully in the Japanese cedar forest, have lunch during the wait time for the train. After you've ridden from Sugaya Station to Ononiimachi Station, enjoy making an original Licca-chan doll and take a tour of the factory at Licca Castle. If you take another train and arrive at Natsui Station, try taking a leisurely stroll on the tree-lined road of Natsui Senbon-Zakura (or Natsui's thousand cherry blossom trees).
Sugaya Station
Benten zakura (Estimated duration/20 minutes by foot)
This is a Edohigan shidare (weeping cherry blossom tree) that is 400-year-old, and it flowers surrounded by a Japanese cedar forest. At base of the cherry blossom tree, there is a small shrine dedicated, and there is a legend remaining that says the parents of a daughter who died in a pond that used to exist in the area planted the cherry tree as a memorial to her.
